“When my wife found the perfect home for us to retire to – where I would never have to shovel the driveway again -- we decided to sell our cozy home in Newton, that we had lived in together so happily for many years, retire and move. My wife immediately suggested that we use the real estate agent she had used before - 20 years ago. Maureen Walsh had been great back then – so, she would now have even 20 years more experience.  I knew my wife was smart – so I said sure. I just didn’t know how smart she really was. “On March 15, the Sunday of our last open house, the CDC issued guidance recommending against any gathering of 50 or more people for an eight-week period. Massachusetts schools closed. Everything started shutting down. I mean everything. Lots of episodes involving masks. And had Maureen not convinced us to move up the open house – we would have been in a real mess. But there were still lots of obstacles to navigate. Fire inspections couldn’t happen, City Hall was closed, banks were making funny noises.

“Later on – since my wife found herself working from home – and we had already bought our new house -- we decided to move earlier than we had been planning. Maureen was again a huge help. She put us in contact with a great ‘junk’ guy who helped us get the house ‘broom clean.’ She even offered to come over and move the trash cans back from the curb, into their proper place, if we put the last of our garbage out on the day we moved. It was like having the help of a family member – who is forgiving of your oversights and idiosyncrasies.
